Pat, Kay & KOHA

Sharing of knowledge is very important in any establishment to continue growing. We learn more from it and at the same time it generates new ideas in order for us to solve things and successfully achieve our task.

Learning Koha, Southville's integrated library system, MarcEdit by myself and other stuff related with the said library system is honestly not an easy task. With no background knowledge and learning from scratch to advanced skills is really a challenging yet fulfilling experience once you see the product of your labor. Indeed, you really need to have interest in what you are doing then loving it in the end. Last July 5, 2017 and on a Thursday, Ms. Kaynne Libat, librarian from SSIS-M (Stonyhurst Southville International School - Malarayat) visited Southville College Library for a one on one tutorial on Koha, MarcEdit and other tools. I had the chance to share my knowledge from what I have learned about Koha. It was very obvious how earnest, interested and excited Ms. Libat was that made me more enthusiastic to share what I know. Also, I discovered new things through her. Together we gain benefits through learning from one another as we collaborate and finding how each one produces and surprises one another with relevant outputs.

From our session, we were able to import a total of 2,144 records and items for SSIS Malarayat library collection to our one-stop source for the academic community which is the SISC WebOPAC.
