DOE enagages with Malala

DOE 1st Library Volunteering Log:

We volunteered at the College Library for an hour. Our task was to read the autobiography of Malala Yousafzai, 'I am Malala'. We were told to read the Prologue and the 1st Chapter of the book. The Prologue told us about how the event that changed her life, her getting shot by the Taliban, occurred and the small events before it. The Prologue's main purpose was to tell us the story of what happened on the day of her shooting itself. It gave us an insight on what her life was in the Swat Valley of Pakistan, her school life, her family, and what her life looked like then and ends with the Taliban shooting her, and she defining herself by saying in the book, "I am Malala". The chapter 1 of the book tells us the after events of the shooting. She was moved to Birmingham, England and said that she missed her home very much and longed to go back and that there is not greater sin than separating one from a country they love. Chapter 1 is mostly her reminiscing about her previous life the story of her birth, more on her family and things that happened before the shooting.
