Palanca Hall of Fame awardee Tito Dok booktalks on October 9
Palanca Hall of Fame awardee Dr. Luis P. Gatmaitan arrives on October 9 for the College Department's annual book talk activity themed on "Growth Mindset & Books That Heal." Venue is Mini Theatre of Southville International School and Colleges. Tito Dok is one of the few Palanca Hall of Fame awardees who has achieved the distinction of winning five first prizes in the regular categories.
Luis P. Gatmaitan hails from Talavera, Nueva Ecija. He is a medical doctor and author of more than 40 children’s books, some of which have been translated to Nihonggo, Thai, Mandarin, and Bahasa Indonesia. He has chaired the Philippine Board on Books for Young People (PBBY) and now sits on the National Council for Children’s Television (NCCT) as a Child Development Specialist. Known as “Tito Dok” to his readers and listeners, he hosts a weekly radio storytelling program, “Wan Dey Isang Araw” aired over 702 DZAS of the Far East Broadcasting Company, where he is also heard in the public service program “Doctors On Line.” He received recognition for his literary works from the International Board on Books for Young People, Manila Critics Circle, Catholic Mass Media Awards, Gawad Dangal ng Wikang Filipino, and the Reading Association of the Philippines. In 2003, he was chosen as a recipient of The Outstanding Young Men of the Philippines (TOYM) award.
