Immersion work: an interview

Q: What is work immersion?

Ellen: Work Immersion refers to the part of the Senior High School (SHS) curriculum consisting of 80 hours of hands-on experience or work simulation which the Grade 11 and 12 students will undergo to expose us to the actual workplace setting and to enrich our competencies provided by the School under the supervision of the school head and the designated personnel of the partner.

Q: Where were you assigned?

During our Work Immersion I was deployed in the College Library in SISC .

Q: How was your experience? What have you discovered?

Librarian is the one who works professionally in the library, providing access information and sometimes social or technical programming. In addition, librarians provide instruction or information literacy.

Q: Did you like the work immersion in our library?

I am deeply grateful that Ms. Trixie of HR Department provided me the opportunity to attend my Work Immersion in SISC College Library and my supervisors/superiors allowed me the freedom to continue to enhance and grow through my work Immersion. I know I can truly begin to affect change at our school and perhaps even outside the campus.

I've learned a lot of things:

  • how books are arranged and categorized;

  • where to how and how to download ebooks;

  • improving my handling and computer skills like Excel; and,

  • enjoying speaking English straightly.

Everything I learned during may immersion, I will use them in my future work.
